- Peony Bar Soap
- Floral scent, with spicy, herbaceous and woodsy notes.
So, why soap?
Every year there are some flowers we can’t send out, so we thought we’d share the love and transform them into longer lasting products. We liked the idea of turning the peonies into something longer lasting, something that can be enjoyed any time of the year. This is how this line of products was born. Distilled in small batches, using fresh spring water from our own well, we have separated the essential oil and fragrance from the original flowers, and used that as the basis for all our products. We have then combined these oils and the hydrosol (a delicious smelling by-product of the distillation process) with locally sourced ingredients to craft these handmade soaps just for you! Our recipe has been especially formulated to be gentle on your skin, suitable for all skin types, and full of lovely skincare goodies.
About the Ingredients
Peony Oil contains a variety of compounds that provide a range of healthcare benefits. First, it has been shown to be incredibly hydrating for skincare, as well as being able to reduce fine lines – for these reasons it is commonly used for face-creams and anti-aging products.
Peony oil has antifungal, antibacterial, and antimicrobial properties, which are all great qualities to have in a bar of soap. But that’s not all! It has been found to reduce skin irritation and inflammation. It has mild anti-inflammatory, anxiolytic (anti-anxiety) and analgesic (pain relief) properties, and has been shown in some cases to reduce arthritic pain. Additionally, it has a documented soothing effect on mood, and due to this, it is used commonly in cosmetics, body lotions, and also aromatherapy. When vapours are inhaled (such as from an essential oil diffuser), it can help serotonin release, and reduce stress levels.
Olive Oil is full of vitamin E, and antioxidants that increase your skin’s ability to absorb and maintain moisture. Olive Oil has anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties – it can dissolve oily residue on the skin, leaving it feeling well cleansed.
Coconut Oil is full of fatty acids that are super hydrating, locking moisture into the skin. It has anti-inflammatory, moisturising, and antioxidant properties. For these reasons it’s especially good if you have sensitive skin. It is also antibacterial and antimicrobial.
Shea Butter feels luxurious and is also incredibly moisturising for your skin, creating a moisturising effect that lasts hours. Shea butter is great for reducing redness and swelling, and it is super gentle on the skin.
Hemp Seed Oil is another oil that is great for all skin types. It balances out oily skin and moisturises dry skin. Hemp oil’s major claim to skincare fame is that it can give all day long hydration without blocking up your pores.
Castor Oil is a lesser known skin care oil. Castor oil has anti-inflammatory properties – making it ideal for use on irritated, inflamed, or sensitive skin. It is antimicrobial and highly cleansing. It also acts as a humectant, meaning it can draw moisture from the air into your skin, and is especially good for dry skin types.

Love the soap. It’s so creamy and my hands feel so soft after using it.
