Peony Season Is Finally Here!

The plants look fantastic. They’re growing quickly—our coral varieties are thriving, and the Red Charm is doing well. The mid-season reds and whites are just beginning to emerge from the ground. It appears our season is following a fairly normal pattern. We can’t wait to see what this season has in store for us! If you would like to buy our peonies this season, we are now accepting orders on our website and on Upstock (for bulk orders).

What Have We Been Up To?

Things are in full swing here on the farm as we prepare for our peony harvest. We anticipate starting to pick in the second week of October, around the 10th and will begin shipping orders shortly after. This is our favourite time of the year! It’s hectic and busy, but we're kind of enjoying the routine.

The effort is definitely worthwhile—consistent weeding is crucial for the health and vigorous growth of peony plants. We've been doing some  research on how to encourage more stem growth, and the top recommendation for getting peonies to thrive is excellent weed control. It turns out peonies are quite territorial; they prefer their own space and don’t take kindly to competition!

Fun Fact

A fun fact about peony flowers is that they have a fascinating history and are often associated with good fortune and prosperity in many cultures. In ancient China, peonies were considered the "king of flowers" and were used in traditional medicine, symbolizing wealth and good luck!

Peony cut flowers can last up to a week or more in a vase if properly cared for! To maximize their longevity, trim the stems at an angle, remove any foliage that would be submerged in water, and change the water every couple of days. Their lush blooms and delightful fragrance make them a favourite for floral arrangements!

Available Now: Peony Flower Subscription!

We love peonies, but we only have a short season so let's make the most of it. We will send peonies direct to your door, every week, throughout the peony season. The peony season is typically 6-8 weeks long, depending on what Mother Nature has in store for us. Thus, our subscription period will be for 6 weeks, and you can choose whether you would like to receive your peonies once a week (6 deliveries over 6 weeks), or once per fortnight (3 deliveries over 6 weeks). There are four options to choose from. This is a good opportunity for florists.
