JSP April Newsletter

We have started this newsletter so that you can keep up to date with what is happening here on the flower farm, and so we can provide you with some information about what happens behind the scenes. There will be special offers, exclusive member-promotions, and most importantly, first dibs on products when they come available!

What have we been up to this month?

The last few months have been pretty full on - we always have multiple projects on the go here at the flower farm.

The most exciting thing was completing  our saffron planting. Our existing saffron block has started flowering earlier than expected, so we will have saffron available soon!

03/04 - We have the first saffron flowers!! They are super early, but we can't wait until these come on in full swing.

For the moment, as it is just the start of their season, we have only a few flowers per day, but this will pick up significantly over the next few weeks.

Over the last few months, we have been working on bringing you some peony luxury you can have everyday - at the moment it takes the form of handmade soaps and body spray.

Here is a cheeky peek behind the scenes of making the soaps.

In the next few weeks we will be getting ready for Moutere Artisan Day. This means making sure all our products are sorted, packaged, and labelled so they are ready to go on the 23rd.

We are excited to bring you not only our luxe peony products, but also Saffron straight from the farm. We will have limited amounts available, so it’ll be first in first served. They will be sold in One and Five gram bags, so for the foodies out there, or even just the curious, this will be a nice treat you can pick up before everyone else. After Moutere Artisan Day, we will open orders to the public and further away.

Saffron is so good in so many ways, but in my opinion, it excels in autumn style home- cooking. Its sweet, earthy flavour lends itself well to both sweet and savoury dishes, and it's popular in stews, risottos, and soups, as well as puddings, baked goods, and ice cream (this one is not very autumnal, but ice cream is an all-year food). My personal favourite way to eat it is mixed into a kumara mash - easy and delicious! I have yet to try a saffron ice cream, but my mouth is watering just thinking about it. I may have to try and make some soon - I will share how this goes in the next newsletter!
